Plans / Wiggo!

All,

Looks like the Winter 2015 build season is upon us.

First plan build on the table is Max Z's "Wiggo"

36" span, balsa and ply built-up construction. Electric running a 35-36 1000kV motor on 3S 2200mAh LiPos. 4 x 12g servos.

Colour Scheme: TBD but have contacted the designer and had a "Cheese" based scheme approved.

General Shape...



Started with the tail feathers, most balsa stripped out of 6mm sheet...








Finished and sanded tail feathers...



Moved on to the main wing. Decided to make wing ribs out of 3mm liteply. Laminated two sheets together with pattern laminated on top...



Balsa wing spar...



Dry fitting...



Starting the glue up...





More glueing. Stringers and top / bottom spar caps going on...

We are aware that we have had issues with both the main Greenacres website, and indeed this forum over the past week. All is now well with both...

We'd also like to announce that the Greenacres Facebook page has been dusted off and received a fresh coat of epoxy (without the use of PullPly, Danny!) and spray paint.

2015 / August Fun Fly: What are you taking....?

Looks like the weather is going to be kind to us this coming weekend!

Light winds Friday and Saturday, picking up a little on Sunday...

I'm going to *try* to fly all the planes I take thsi time, so I'll be taking:

• Whizza: Maidened and trimmed but never flown by me...
• Sukhoi SU-31 "Honda": Maidened and trimmed but never flown by me...
• Riot: Maidened and trimmed and flown by me...
• Radjet 800 "Double Trouble": Never *really* flown by anyone! Liam?! Now with MORE POWER!
• Edge 540 "Disco 2000": Will be bustin' some moves...

How about you? What are you taking?

2015 / Starting "Field Watch"...

Just for early warning of any possible flying field issues, I will try to cast my eyes over the field at lunchtime / hometime each day this week...

Monday 3rd August - Lunchtime - Nothing to report - Only one "dodgy" looking character - Peaky on his mower! 

Monday 3rd August - Hometime - Nothing to report - Dodgy fella on mower gone!

Tuesday 4th August - Lunchtime - Nothing serious to report - Two guys whizzing around on land yachts - Off the show strip...

Tuesday 4th August - Hometime - Nothing to report.

Wednesday 5th August - Lunchtime - Nothing to report except a horrible cross-wind...

Wednesday 5th August - Hometime - Nothing to report.

Thursday 6th August - Lunchtime - Nothing to report

Thursday 6th August - Hometime - Nothing to report!

That's it! We're on!!!

Aldridge Airport / Sunglasses found...

Was flying my Edge 540 at lunchtime today (Friday 31st July) and found a pair of RayBan sunglasses.

They were placed carefully unfolded on the flightline so I guess someone was taking a close look at something and forgot them.

I will keep them in my car glovebox until someone claims them...

Andy,

Quite right! What a excellent few days. Can't believe how much stuff gets packed into 2 and a bit days.

Highlights for me, in no particular order:

• Meeting Max from Holland and his "Wiggo"
• Watching the three big biplanes do their thing.
• Touching Danny's Chipmunk. Oh-er!
• Flying my Edge 540 (quick roll on climb-out)
• Having my Sukhoi SU-31 "Honda" test flown and trimmed by an aerobatic champion. Thanks, Liam!
• Watching Morgan and Liam try to take each others RadJets out. Morgan thought he'd got Liam, but it turned out to be the other way round when Liam casually waggled his wings at him!
• Being asked to help do some wiring looms for a new jet model! Yeah! Working on a jet!

Congratulations to Morgan for winning the RCM&E prize. Very well deserved.

Can't wait for the next one!

Greenacres RCM&E Funfly was a brilliant weekend again and i would like to thank everyone for there fantastic help and support and for pulling together once again. I hope everyone enjoyed it, even though most of us were working in some way or another it was still a brilliant weekend and i think a good few of us still got  a few flights in too.
Thank's to everyone who attended and hope to see you at our next event (8th 9th August) and congratulations to Morgan for winning a trophy
